1a. What is God's standard of obedience? - God demand's perfection. Nothing less. b. How many of his laws are we required to obey? - All of them. It is an impossible task and the whole reason we are in need of a redeemer. Without Christ we would all be condemned because we all fall short of this task. 2a. Has Christ kept the law of God? - Yes, Christ's obedience was pure and complete b. Has any other human being? - No. As Rom 3:10 says, "...None is righteous, no, not one;" 3. What was the work of Christ which most fully revealed his persevering obedience to his Father's will? - His death on the cross. Even though He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane to remove this cup, He still submitted Himself to the will of God. 4. What is the difference between pardon and justification? - To Pardon means the punishment is removed for something you did. Justification means that you have been cleared from all accusations. As if you never did the offence in the first place. 5. According to the Lord's own teaching, what must we do to 'do the works God requires'? - Believe in the one He has sent. 6. What activity is essential to 'pleasing God'? - Faith. 7a. Where does faith come from? - All things come from God. b. do we have a natural ability to believe, or do we receive faith as a gift? - No. It is only possible as a free gift from God.

1. According to the Lord Jesus Christ, in His conversation with Nicodemus, how important is the new birth? - We cannot see God as we are. We must become new creature's and that is a gift only God can give to us. 2a. Why do we need a new birth? - Unless this change is given to us by God, we are powerless to repent and believe in Christ! b. What is our condition before we come to Christ? - Total depravity. 3. Can we control this work of the Holy Spirit? - No. It is all under the hand of God alone. 4. What is the role of the Word of God in accomplishing the new birth? - The Word of God is the external calling of the truths of the gospel. This is necessary but can not save us on it's own. We must also be born again by the work of the Lord.
